The Home Screen

The home screen is your board library: from here you open boards, create new ones, arrange, duplicate, delete, and send. The boards are organized into categories, and at the top there's a search box that finds any board — including by the words inside it.

Locking the home screen

Every time the app opens, the home screen opens locked — so that whoever uses the boards to communicate can't delete or change anything by accident. In locked mode you can only open boards and use them.

To unlock, give a long press on the Edit mode button (the lock) in the corner — hold until the button fills up. A short tap only shows a reminder: "The home screen is locked to prevent accidental changes".

Once unlocked, all the management options appear: creating a board, renaming, duplicating, deleting, and more. To lock again — one short tap on the button. If you've set a lock code, tapping the button immediately opens the code dialog, and unlocking is only possible after entering the correct code.

Board categories

The boards are arranged in categories, in this order:

Boards received from professionals

If a speech-language pathologist or another professional has sent you boards, they appear first, in a separate category for each sender (for example "Boards from Dana"). These boards are available for viewing and use only — for changes, contact whoever sent them. You can rename the category (the pencil icon), refresh it with the Refresh button to pull in new boards, and in edit mode — tapping a board opens a menu with Duplicate to my boards.

My boards

All the boards you've created or duplicated. This is also where the New board button lives, which leads to Creating a Board. Dragging a board with a long press changes the order of the boards in the category.

Emorli boards

Ready-to-use boards built by professional speech-language pathologists, included with the app. They can't be edited directly — if you want to make changes, duplicate a board into "My boards" (in edit mode: tap the board and choose Duplicate) and edit the copy.

Template boards

Base boards that serve as a starting point for creating new boards. When you create a new board from a template, all of its cells are copied to the new board. Editing a template doesn't affect boards already created from it.

Special boards

Boards with special functionality — like the Hebrew keyboard board that lets you type words freely.

Searching for boards

The Search boards... box at the top of the screen starts searching from the second character. The search finds boards by their name — and also by the words inside the boards: if you search for "banana", boards that contain a "banana" tile appear too, even if the board's name is different. Results that match by name are shown first.

Board actions

In edit mode (screen unlocked), tapping a board in the "My boards" category opens an actions menu (and a long press skips the menu and opens the board directly for editing):

• Open board — opens the board.
• Rename — a new name for the board.
• Duplicate — creates a copy (named "... (copy)") that you can edit freely.
• Send to patients — appears if you manage patients; sends the board straight to their devices (see Sharing and Collaboration).
• Delete — removes the board, after confirmation.

Multi-select

To delete or send several boards at once, tap Multi-select in the "My boards" title (only in edit mode). Mark boards with a tap, or use Select all / Clear selection — then choose Delete or Send to patients in the bar at the bottom of the screen. Cancel exits the mode without doing anything.

Messages and updates

• When the Emorli team publishes an important message, a red Message icon (a loudspeaker) appears at the top of the screen. Tapping it opens the message.
• When a new version of the app is out, a "A new version is available" banner appears at the top of the screen with an Update button. You can close it — it will appear again the next time the app opens, as long as you haven't updated.
